Merry Christmas, Happy Holidays, and a Happy and Healthy New Year - and It's Quiz Time 4It's that time of year when we sit back and reflect on what has transpired in the past year, think about our hopes and dreams for the coming year, and celebrate with family and friends.

On behalf of everyone at Tools for Working Wood, Gramercy Tools, and our suppliers, we thank you for your continued support. This isn't a empty platitude. You are not just customers, you are customers who are interested in the things we are interested in, and you make our jobs possible. This is why we are so thankful for your support.

I'd also like to invite you on January 3 and 4th 2014 to

But now it's quiz time! Just three questions - and no prize - The picture above is a detail of a piece of furniture. My questions are: When was it made? Where was it made? and what's the material? Just add a comment if you want to suggest some answers. My answer and a picture of the entire piece - next week!!!

Until then Merry Christmas, Happy Holidays, and a Happy and Healthy New Year to you and your family.

The piece looks Byzantine to me. So when : 6th century ( complete guess). Constantinople. Marble, though the face looks to be ivory.

I think I recognize a reconstructed Roman couch at the Met. Bone and glass(!) elements, 1st or 2nd century AD.
